Cinematic Real Estate Video Explained: Walkthroughs, Twilight Shots and Lifestyle Clips

Short answer: real estate video comes in three flavours. A walkthrough shows the home’s flow, a twilight film sells the view and atmosphere, and a lifestyle clip sells the way of living — coffee on the deck, the lake, the vineyard road. Most Okanagan listings need a walkthrough; premium listings benefit from all three.

The walkthrough

Steady, gimbal-smooth movement through the main living spaces in a logical order, 60–120 seconds, with exposure balanced so the windows show the view instead of blowing out. This is the workhorse of listing video.

The twilight film

Shot in the 20 minutes after sunset when interior lights glow and the sky still has colour. For lake-view and hillside homes in Kelowna and West Kelowna it is often the single most shared piece of a listing.

The lifestyle clip

A person — or just hands, a coffee, a dog — using the space. It is short, emotional and made for social media. It works especially well for Airbnb and vacation-rental owners.

How to choose

  • Condo or townhome: photos + a short walkthrough.
  • Family home: photos + walkthrough + social cut.
  • View property, acreage, luxury or vacation rental: add twilight and lifestyle.
