How Long Should a Wedding Highlight Film Be? (And What Goes In It)
Short answer: the ideal wedding highlight film is 3 to 7 minutes. Long enough to tell the story of the day with your vows and speeches woven in, short enough that friends actually watch it to the end. Our packages include a 5-minute highlight film (Premium) or a 7-minute cinematic film with interviews (Premium Plus).
Why not longer?
Attention. A 20-minute “highlight” gets watched once. A 5-minute film gets watched at every anniversary and shared with everyone who could not attend. Longer content belongs in separate edits.
What goes into a great highlight film
- An opening that sets the place – Okanagan Lake, the vineyard, the mountains.
- Your vows and the best lines from the speeches as the narration.
- Real reactions: parents, the first look, the kiss.
- A dance-floor finale and a quiet closing shot.
When you also want the long versions
Many couples add a full ceremony edit and a speeches edit – unedited, multi-camera, with clean audio. They are not for social media; they are for you, and for the people who could not be there.
Social cuts
A 30–60 second vertical teaser for Instagram is now standard. Ask for it up front so it is planned into the edit. Get a quote and we will tailor the deliverables to how you actually want to watch your wedding.
