How to Prepare Your Business for a Video Shoot: Owner & Staff Checklist
Short answer: a great business video shoot is 80% preparation. Decide the goal, tidy the space, brief the team, and control the sound — and the filming itself becomes easy. Here is the checklist we send clients before every business shoot.
One week before
- Goal and audience – one sentence: “This video should make ___ want to ___.”
- Talking points, not a script – 5–7 bullets you can speak naturally about.
- Shot list – products, spaces, people and processes you want shown.
- Who appears on camera – confirm availability and get a simple release signed.
The day before
- Tidy and de-clutter the areas being filmed; remove anything you would not want on your website.
- Fresh flowers or a clean display go a long way.
- Charge devices and screens you want shown working.
Wardrobe
- Solid colours, no busy patterns or big logos (except your own).
- Bring a second option.
- Branded uniforms if you have them – consistency looks professional.
Sound (the thing everyone forgets)
- Turn off background music, fridges, HVAC and phones during interviews.
- Pick the quietest room, ideally with soft furnishings.
- Schedule interviews outside delivery times and rush hours.
On the day
Block enough time so nobody rushes, keep customers informed with a friendly sign, and relax — we will guide you through every take. Book a business shoot and we will send this checklist tailored to your location.
